Jowls
Jowls are folds of skin protruding below the jaw line that are caused by sagging of the midface.The basic problem is deflation of the midface (loss of fat contouring over the cheekbones) and descent of the redundant skin, leading to deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
The most effective (and immediate) remedy is to re-contour the midface with an injectable implant such as Radiesse. Other fillers such as Voluma can be used, or Sculptra - which provides a gradual correction of severe volume loss (lipodystrophy) over a series of treatments.
Fillers can also be used to round out the jawline, disguising the appearance of jowls.
